[Cygwin-ports-general] Fundraising time again

Hi all,

My apologies for being quiet here recently. A lot of my focus as of
late has been moving packages from Ports into the distro so that users
can more easily find, and install, these packages. This was always the
eventual goal of Ports, and therefore while I have been busy building
packages as always, for the most part they haven't been specifically
landing here.

In mid-2009 (6.5 years ago!), with your help, I built a new system
which has served as both my personal computer and my Cygwin builder,
which has been upgraded along the way thanks to your continued support.
In that time, it has been put to very good use. Not only have we seen
major new versions of Cygwin and other software in that time, but also
added x86_64 native support with all its advantages.

Unfortunately, I'm sorry to report that system died recently, and after
taking it apart it is clear that either the CPU and/or motherboard are
at fault. Given how long it has been (this was a quad-core socket AM2+
with DDR2), most stores aren't selling compatible hardware anymore, so
the time has come to start over.

With the increased number and size of packages being built for Cygwin,
along with the addition of a second architecture (meaning that most
packages end up being built twice) and split debuginfo (which, while
extremely useful, consumes much more disk and memory space), it has
become increasingly difficult to both *use* and build with a single
system. I have the funds for a decent personal system, which I hope to
put together soon, but now I am looking for a separate builder, and the
more cores the better. With exchanges rates such as they are
(approaching 70 cents on the dollar), it's going to take a sum of money
to make this happen.

Donations may be made through PayPal; go to http://cygwinports.org/ and
click on the "Make A Donation" button.

Thank you again for your support.
